Services

At St. Johnland, our commitment to residents with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias is evident throughout our dedicated unit. The environment on the secured unit has been specifically designed to promote socialization and well-being, diminish agitation and confusion, and provide a warm and loving atmosphere in which residents can thrive.
The spacious unit has many naturally lighted areas, beautiful secured walking areas as well as sizeable rooms overlooking the courtyard gardens, and color-coded areas to give residents visual clues to their location.
Staff receive special training to work with the Alzheimer’s and dementia population and they excel at meeting the unique needs of those with dementia-related illnesses. This program provides a safe and secure environment that is stimulating and, at the same time, warm and compassionate.
Maintaining and enhancing the abilities and well-being of each resident is the primary goal and is accomplished by activities designed to provide physical freedom, cognitive and language skills, music, social activities, crafts and life skills.
The interdisciplinary team includes professionals from medicine and psychiatry, nursing, dietary, social work, recreational and occupational therapy. The team, along with the resident and family, develop the individual care plan.

St. Johnland is the premier provider on Long Island of skilled nursing care with specialties in Alzheimer’s / dementia, head injury rehabilitation, subacute care, and adult day care.
