A Leader in Head Injury Rehabilitation
The certified 20-bed head injury rehabilitation unit at St. Johnland Nursing Center is one of only seven inpatient nursing facility programs in New York State. Our highly-acclaimed program offers both short and long term (up to one year) acute neuro-rehabilitation to patients aged 17+ who have suffered TBI, CVA, anoxia, aneurysm, encephalitis or any diffuse brain damage.
An Individually Tailored and Holistic Approach
The St. Johnland rehabilitation team restores function, independence, self-esteem, dignity and hope, and strives to return each individual to their whole self by addressing the complex, medical, cognitive, social, behavioral and emotional issues of brain-injury. Each patient is encouraged to learn new skills to compensate for the losses resulting from the injury. We offer a home-like, therapeutic, supportive setting with private rooms and beautiful courtyard gardens.
Our team works together to coordinate quality care and promote positive outcomes, helping residents and families to understand the process of head injury rehabilitation.
Providing the Foundation for Long Term Rehabilitation
Our comprehensive program treats the complex effects of brain injury including difficulty walking, dressing, grooming, communicating and home management skills. We focus on cognitive issues including limitations in memory, initiation, attention, behavior and emotional and social adjustment issues.
